This occasionally cumbersome comedy has Hunter a wealthy, spoiled draftee in the peacetime Army, longing only to get out and away, back to his sweetheart Wood. During basic training, his purposeful ineptitude--which leads to most of the few laughs, usually at the expense of his training
sergeant, Hamilton--results in the Army offering him a discharge from the service, albeit a dishonorable one. Desperate to depart the confines of the encampment, he accepts the proffered paper, but before his exit occurs he finds himself in the midst of a war-games exercise. In the confusion of
