A contemporary drama reflecting the popular concern with violence and crime in the big city. Cox is out for revenge against the hoodlums who raped his girl friend during an intended burglary of her Greenwich Village apartment. He tracks down a prostitute friend of one of the thugs, Spence, and discovers the latter's whereabouts by posing as a friend. Captured by the drug-dealing, thieving rapists, Spence and Peters, Cox is sentenced to death by them, along with rape victim Tchor and prostitute Richards, whom they believe to have betrayed them. The intended murder victims, including the unwitting Richards, are taken for a gangland-style ride. Richards, getting wind of the fact that Spence and Peters plan to dispose of her as well as the other two, attacks them. Spence fires, killing Richards and, inadvertently, Peters. Cox manages to get control of the car and runs Spence down. Actor Peters is also known as Sebastian Dangerfield, a name presumably borrowed from the protagonist of J.P. Donleavy's novel The Ginger Man. leave a comment
