Gideon Of Scotland Yard

A late film in the long career of John Ford that isn't at all bad; it's just not one of his masterpieces. Shot in Britain, GIDEON OF SCOTLAND YARD stars Hawkins as an overworked Scotland Yard inspector. The action takes place during one of his typically complicated, harrowing days. When word is on the street that one of his sergeants has been on the take, Hawkins confronts the officer and receives an uneasy denial. Soon after, the cop is killed in a hit-and-run car wreck.
