Lugosi plays a Nazi spy hiding out in an ostensibly abandoned New York mansion. When the Bowery Boys stumble on his abode, he tries to scare them away by making the place appear haunted. Unfortunately, there is not enough focus on Lugosi as the film centers on the usual buffoonery of
Gorcey, Hall, and company. The subplot has Gardner playing Hall's soon-to-be-wed sister, which coincided with her real life walk down the aisle with Mickey Rooney, and some exhibitors exploited the nuptials by billing her as "Mrs. Mickey Rooney" on their marquees.
