Albert is an oil-company magnate who stages a raid deep in Afghanistan to steal a secret, new nerve gas from the Russians. His company has contracted with the government to provide an antidote to the gas, which has the unusual property of intensifying rather than dissipating and of eating the flesh off human beings. Progress on the antidote is slow, so the government sends beautiful agent Landers to check on things. She turns out to be a former lover of Albert, and it isn't long before the two have resumed the relationship. Meanwhile, Albert's chief business rival, Baker, is so desperate for money that he steals the gas and threatens to drop it on Dallas unless Albert personally coughs up $50 million. Although hardly a well-crafted action film, this effort does manage to engender some tension despite the wooden performances of Albert and Landers. Baker is a likable villain, but his character's notion of threatening to destroy Dallas is just colossally stupid. What redeems the picture is the final helicopter chase among the skyscrapers of Dallas. leave a comment
