One of the strangest and most obscure spaghetti westerns ever to come out of Italy as director Baldi and producer-star Anthony pull out all the stops. "Stranger" Anthony battles all manner of villains, including Vikings who turn up in a small western ghost town and a mad family that appears to have stepped out of a Shakespearian epic in its Elizabethan splendor--complete with a castle--in the middle of the desert. The climax sees Anthony fighting medieval knights using swords and arrows with his vast array of weapons, which includes machine guns, dynamite, and his trusty six-shooter. The whole mess is connected by a mysterious silver sphere that turns up in every scene like a supernatural observer to the crazy proceedings. Anthony was responsible for a long series of "Stranger" spaghetti westerns in the 1970s, and he also started a 3-D revival with his COMIN' AT YA! (1981), which was directed by Baldi and was even worse than GET MEAN. leave a comment
