Connors is convincing as the title character who goes on the warpath against the US after fleeing to Mexico because of a broken treaty. One of a handful of films that came out in favor of the Indian nation. Unfortunately, these redskins come across as too gentle to be believed and
curiously able to speak in unfaltering English. Magnificent photography from south of the border is a big plus, but that cannot forgive the upbeat ending, which implies that the Indians got a square deal. They did not then and never have since.
