On the lines of Florenz Ziegfeld's "Follies" and Earl Carroll's "Vanities," George White delivers another SCANDALS with about as much scandal as there is story. Davis and Haley are lovebirds, as are Terry and Holliday. Holliday is a dancer who runs off before the show begins, sending panic through boyfriend-stage manager Terry. Gene Krupa is spotlighted in some of the musical numbers, which include "Bolero in the Jungle," "E.H.S.," "Leave Us Leap" (Krupa), "I Want to be a Drummer in the Band" (Jack Yellen, Sammy Fain, performed by Krupa), "How Did You Get Out of My Dreams?" (Yellen, Fain), "I Wake Up in the Morning," "Who Killed Vaudeville?" (Yellen, Fain, sung by Davis and Haley), "Scandals" (from the 1931 original, sung by Beverly Sills, written by Lew Brown, Ray Henderson), "Liza," "Os Pintinhos No Perreiro," "Wishing" (played on the organ by Ethel Smith, the latter written by Buddy De Sylva), "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries" (Brown, Henderson), and "Bouquet and Lace" (Leigh Harline). leave a comment
