GENERAL CHAOS: UNCENSORED ANIMATION
starstarstarstar
Sex, violence, drugs and flatulence: This collection of 18 animated shorts -- some of which are animated only in the loosest sense of the term -- aims to offend and doubtless will. The lows are very low indeed, witness an American Gladiators parody -- as though such a thing were needed at all -- in which the contestants fart at each other through the miracle of crude computer animation. The highs include The Saint Inspector, in which a pole-sitting holy man's meditations are disturbed by the poking and prodding of an officious mechanical quality-control inspector; the incredibly crude but weirdly insinuating Junky, featuring a strung-out parrot degraded by its cracker dealer; The Donor Party, a computer-animated homage to Max Ernst's Une Semaine de Bonte by way of FREAKS; and the clay-animated Zerox and Mylar, a naughty variation on classic Tom and Jerry-style antics. And The Attack of the Hungry Hungry Nipples, a faux-French fractured children's tale featuring Jean Jean the abused child, the Evil Cat and the Flying Richard Nixon Baseball Bat, is just plain odd. The rest range from dully obvious to grossly obvious: An animated stripper does a tassel dance then fires bullets from her nipples; a nihilistic warrior with a mechanical arm mows down mutants in a future wasteland; Alice falls down the rabbit hole into a nightmarish world of mutating vaginas and penises. Repeat after us: Not for the kids until they're old enough not to ask you. leave a comment --Maitland McDonagh
