Unfortunately, the word "gay" has taken on a very different meaning since this picture was titled. In 1934, it meant "happy" or "carefree" but this movie is neither. A feeble attempt at a gangland satire, it tells the tale of gold-digger Lombard who vamps Pendleton, the mobster who is backing the show in which Lombard is appearing.
