Brasseur, a drunk, and his good friend Brassens, a troubadour, meet gangster Vidal and offer him refuge in Brassens' house. Brasseur takes the time to care for Vidal, benefiting from his newfound friendship. Vidal warms up to Carrel, a girl Brasseur has eyes for, and cons her into stealing some money from her cafe owner father.
