This was the first in an intended series of films based on the popular comic strip--then 30 years of age--of the title. The story line, taken directly from the daily newspaper, concentrates on the younger Wallets, chubby Corky (Beckett) and Hope (Morrow). They wed, then attempt to attain
self-sufficiency by opening a diner. Beset by all the customary troubles of undercapitalization, they are assisted by family and friends, with comic relief supplied by Wessel and Schilling as their new employees.
