Garcon!

This conventional bourgeois drama stars the inimitable Montand as a classy aging waiter who struggles with his past dreams and desires while trying to prove he is still as lively as he was years ago. Once an aspiring singer, Montand now wishes those days would return. Eventually they do, in the form of Garcia, a woman he loved 17 years earlier. Once again director Claude Sautet has brought his middle-class ideology to the screen with his usual collaborator, Jean-Loup Dabadie, and has again cast Montand, previously seen in the director's CESAR AND ROSALIE (1972) and VINCENT, FRANCOIS, PAUL AND THE OTHERS (1975).
