This was one of the most expensive flops in Fox's history. Although the story is set in Las Vegas, Taylor insisted that it be filmed in Paris because her then-husband, Richard Burton, was in France making STAIRCASE (another bust) with Rex Harrison. There are laughs and there are laughs. Larry walking into the sushi place to loud greetings of "Chicken Teriyaki Boy"? That's a laugh. But Larry's father watching porn so loud it could be heard throughout the whole front hall of the nursing home? That's a laugh. I mean, I'm giggling as I type this. His sweet, old dad with those giant glasses, saying "What? I can't hear it." Truly a classic moment, and one that can be shown only on pay-cable.
