GALACTIC GIGOLO opens on Crowak, a planet populated by vegetables. There Eoj (Joe spelled backward, and of no significance to the plot), played by writer-associate producer Capobianco, has just won a two-week trip to Earth on the game show "You Bet Your Fertilizer." Capobianco, being a broccoli, chooses as his disguise on Earth the appearance of the "Lovable Sleazeball." Sent to Prospect, Connecticut, the horniest spot in the world according to the Crowakians, he lands in a cheap silver Elvis outfit. At a televised press conference, Capobianco explains his purpose in coming to Earth (to make love to every woman in town) and shows off his protean capabilities by becoming a kitten. The broadcast is seen by a bunch of buffoonish Italian mobsters, who want to use him to help pull bank robberies, and by a family of backwoods--Jewish--rednecks, who viewing Capobianco as a dangerous Commie, want to kill him. Journalist Thibeault then persuades the alien to let her tag along so she can report on his exploits. (Thibeault, by the way, plays a character named Hildy Johnson, borrowed from HIS GIRL FRIDAY.) An awful mix of puns, bargain-basement production values, and muddled plot lines, GALACTIC GIGOLO is truly wretched. Tasteless, stupid jokes abound, and the philosophy behind the editing must have gone something like this: When in doubt, cut to a shot of breasts. Then again, if you liked PSYCHOS IN LOVE, by the same team of filmmakers, you might like this oddity. leave a comment
