A young Frenchman, bewitched by a gypsy song recorded by his late father, strikes out for Romania in hopes of find the mysterious singer, Nora Luca. Stephane (Romain Duris) is in fact searching for more than a chanteuse with a stirring voice: He's looking for a connection to the father who spent his life traveling and recording exotic music, neglecting his wife and sons at home in Paris and dying while on a trip to Syria.
