Well done action-packed western has Mature and Langan as the sons of Warwick, the commanding officer of an outpost who is cashiered after being charged with conspiring with renegade Indians. The brothers go about clearing their father's name but using divergent methods. Mature, a rugged adventurer, takes the abrupt approach, while Langan, an officer in the army, conducts a methodical search. They alienate one another in their desperate search for the truth but reconcile by the finish when they discover that silver tycoon Dekker has framed their father so that he can buy up mineral-rich Indian lands for a pittance. Mature is terrific as the maverick son and Dekker is solid as the culprit. Gardiner is also good as the spineless army officer in Dekker's grip who sets up Warwick's frame. Gray, who loves both brothers, is fetching. Although a B feature, everything about this production is above average, from the tight direction by Humberstone to Jackson's photography and Raskin's memorable score. leave a comment
