By then the most bankable female star of the decade, La Strident reprised the role that shot her to superstardom in FUNNY GIRL. Sequels are seldom as good as the originals, and this is no exception. Still, it's an entertaining and watchable film whose comedy flies higher than its drama.
The picture begins in 1930; she's gotten over Nick Arnstein (Sharif) and now meets entrepreneur-showman-songwriter Billy Rose (Caan). Brice and Rose marry, but his infidelities and the strain of their separate careers destroy the marriage. Brice's life story was heavily fictionalized for this
