Caine, repeating his role from THE IPCRESS FILE, stars as Harry Palmer, the bespectacled British soldier forced to become a counterspy. This time Palmer is sent back to Germany, where his espionage career began, to contact Colonel Stok (Homolka), the Russian head of security for the Berlin Wall. Stok is anxious to defect, and Palmer arranges his escape only to be double-crossed by everyone and his brother.
