Von Stroheim is a hardened border guard with a marshmallow center. He detains Humbert, an Italian trying to get to Austria. Later he detains Russian immigrant Engels for his own lusty purposes but has a change of heart and fixes her up with a fugitive gunman from Brooklyn. Eventually all detainees are allowed to go to America. Von Stroheim played his usual character well, but overall this is a minor film. leave a comment
