FROM THE JOURNALS OF JEAN SEBERG
starstarstarstar
Innovative documentarist Mark Rappaport (ROCK HUDSON'S HOME MOVIES) considers the career, star image and tragic end of a '60s icon -- actress Jean Seberg (Mary Beth Hurt), best known for her starring roles in BREATHLESS and SAINT JOAN, who was hounded to an untimely death by the FBI. The film is more a treatise on gender issues in cinema than a conventional documentary, and viewers expecting a solid biography of Jean Seberg will probably be disappointed. Still, this unusual docudrama deserves acclaim for the iconoclastic approach it takes toward its iconoclastic subject. leave a comment
