The Frightened City

Tough British gangster movie starring Lom as an ambitious hood who hits upon the idea of organizing all of the six main rackets' gangs into one big conglomerate that would control London. The plan works for a while, but then Lom begins to make even bigger, more dangerous deals. One of the gangsters, Marks, breaks off from the organization and forms his own gang. This sparks a bloody war between the factions that leads to Lom sending Connery (in an early role) to bump off Marks. Connery does so, but then panics and turns against the mob by squealing in court. Well-done, fast-paced gangster film filled with good performances.
