Not only are the later Friday the 13th
films distasteful, but they've become so repetitive that each sequel is duller than the last. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII--JASON TAKES MANHATTAN has the most deceptive title and ad campaign of the entire series in that Jason doesn't even set foot in Manhattan until the last 15 minutes of what is yet another plodding entry in the stalk-and-slash genre.
