1933, Movie, NR, 70 mins

Nothing at all like the 1980 teeny-bopper gore film with the same title, or its sequels, this plot was a terrific idea which predated and anticipated a spate of later disaster pictures such as THE CROWDED SKY (1960) and THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY (1954), bringing together a disparate group of passengers united only by transitory tragedy. Big Ben features prominently as we see the clock face registering a minute before midnight on the title date. A lightning bolt causes a London... read more leave a comment

AT THE MOVIES

Per Variety, Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange will star in Grey Gardens, a fact-based drama about two eccentric relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy.... JASON LIVES

Producer Michael Bay, who in addition to Pearl Harbor has brought us intentionally frightening fare such as remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror, now is setting his sights on resurrecting Jason Voorhees in a Friday the 13th redo. This week, finally, they follow a case without the helpful clues of their elusive dad (who, by the way, is the deceased husband in Showtime's Weeds. Both are shown only in flashback). Daddy's trail is now stone cold, but they still choose to investigate a mysterious drowning (not the first to occur in the region they visit). Finally, these brothers are driven by principles and passion, not the and disappointing dad hunt. This is the first time we wit read more
