O'Neal plays a black motel owner accused of raping a beautiful white woman, Lund, who came to Texas from Sweden to join the civil rights movement as a Freedom Rider. Eventually, the whole case is presented to a jury and the verdict goes in favor of the defendant. This supposedly insightful
film on race relations has not worn well with time, and now appears stilted and archaic.
