This was the first in a series of amusing comedies starring featuring a talking mule (voiced by Chill Wills) named Francis. Donald O'Connor is Peter Stirling, a dim-witted GI who, while stationed in Burma, hooks up with Francis. With the mule's, Peter performs a series of heroic deeds. Peter insists on telling others that the mule talks to him, though Francis stubbornly refuses to communicate with anyone else.
