Overlong Japanese war movie starring Mifune as a highly decorated but incorrigible soldier who is sent to the Chinese front as punishment for insubordination. When he arrives he finds that his brother has been executed for desertion. His rage lands him in a situation in which he must choose between a court-martial or a suicide mission.
