While investigating the murder of the owner of a wax museum in Austria, police chief Mueller-Stahl happens to enter a home where another body lies dead--that of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mueller-Stahl locks up the six prime suspects--including the composer's wife, Raacke, and the notorious Viennese court composer Salieri (Glatzeder)--in the dwelling and will not release them until he can identify the killer. Each of the accused flashes back to an important moment in Mozart's life, and Mueller-Stahl finds a motive for murder in every witness' story. The six believe the imperial court is morally guilty for Mozart's death. In the end Mueller-Stahl concludes "we all murdered Mozart." Mozart's music is about the only memorable thing about FORGET MOZART! The composer's later works are highlighted, including the C-sharp minor "Fantasia" and the unfinished "Requiem." The picture received a film festival showing in 1985. leave a comment
