This slasher film concerns Max, a garage mechanic who is unable to form healthy relationships with women because his mother beat him when he was a child. Instead of going to the self-help section at the paperback stand, he kills ladies in a typically imaginative variety of methods. However, when he breaks into the home of young housewife Roberts, he ties her up but is unable to kill her--instead he tries asking for a date. She takes advantage of his hesitation and fights back. A wholly distasteful production, made only more so by the muddy photography. Filmed in 1975 as THE LAST VICTIM, the film was reissued with a new title in 1984, with Roberts and Allen top-billed in hopes of cashing in on their sudden fame. Its rating was changed from PG to R by a rather touchy MPAA upon its rerelease. leave a comment
