A touching film about opera singer Lanza's attempts to raise money for the treatment of his deaf girl friend. He goes on a tour of various European capitals playing fund-raising concerts and earning dollars from his magnificent voice. This turned out to be Lanza's final film as he died the same year, at age 38, of a heart attack in a Rome clinic. Songs and operatic pieces include: "Ave Maria" (Giuseppe Verdi), "Oh Mon Amour," "Bavarian Drinking Song," "Vesti La Giubba" from "Pagliacci" (Ruggiero Leoncavallo), "La Donna e Mobile" from "Rigoletto," "Niun Mi Tema," "Grand March" (Verdi), "O Solo Mio" (Eduardo di Capua), "Ich Liebe Dich" (Edvard Grieg), "Come Prima" (M. Panzeri, S. Paola Tacani, Mary Bond), "Capri, Capri," "Pineapple Picker" (George Stoll). leave a comment
