This disturbing film noir concerns a mysterious killer (Edwin Max), known only as the Judge, who takes it upon himself to play God and kill anyone he thinks is unworthy of life. Witnesses provide enough evidence for the police to create a life-size mannequin in the Judge's likeness, and this dummy is left sitting on a chair in a shadowy corner of the police station, where a frustrated detective pours out his woes to the passive listener. The psychotically daring Judge sneaks into the office and assumes the dummy's position in the chair, thus enabling himself to overhear the police's strategies. Eventually the cops follow a tip to the killer's hideout, where a chase ensues and the Judge falls to his death, but not before revealing his true, rather pathetic identity. leave a comment
