Tough guy Constantine takes on a musical role as a GI who falls in love with Jeanmaire, a Folies showgirl, after he suspects that she's snatched his wallet. They wed, but their marriage is shaken when a film producer begins eyeing the gal. Constantine is able to shed his Franco-Bogart aura long enough to deliver a fine performance. A successful film in its native France, director Decoin owes much to the U.S. musical tradition. leave a comment
