This sensitive look at the "lost generation" following WW I features Barthelmess as a flying ace unable to return to his family after his combat experience. He stays in Paris with comrades who feel the same way. They run into Chandler, a female counterpart to their style of fun, and the
group lives it up for a while. Eventually the group heads to Spain, where all but Barthelmess and Chandler meet early deaths. The film showcases well-paced direction of the script, which relies on a delicate balance between comedy and drama. Characterizations are adequate.
