Producers are always looking for new occupations they can make films about. In this film Kristofferson and Williams are a pair of South Texas members of the US Border Patrol. Williams is a redneck, blue-collar drinker who adheres to the letter of the law, and Kistoferson is a West Point graduate and former Green Beret in Vietnam. While on patrol, they discover the remains of a Jeep buried in the sand along with almost $1 million. Williams thinks they should find out whose money it is, but Logan is all for bolting with the cash. After first hiding the loot, they begin looking for the rightful owner. Their search is noticed by other people, however, and soon their lives are in danger from a multitude of pursuers, not the least of whom are FBI agents. The picture is far too langorous in pace to be considered a true action adventure. It promises more than it delivers--and when one considers that it didn't promise much to begin with, the denouement is particularly disappointing. Williams emotes most of the time but has fewer opportunities than usual for real dramatics. Kristofferson acts like someone who has just awakened and would like to go back to sleep--something many in the audience found themselves doing. leave a comment
