Fireman, Save My Child

The first of three 1930s baseball comedies starring Joe E. Brown (see ELMER THE GREAT, 1933, and ALIBI IKE, 1935), FIREMAN, SAVE MY CHILD cast the former semipro player as Joe Grant, a firefighter in a small Kansas town who is also a diamond sensation. He pitches so well, in fact, that he lands a spot on the St. Louis Cardinals' roster, bringing with it the added distraction of team follower June (Lillian Bond), who threatens his romance with Jawhawk sweetheart Sally (Evalyn Knapp).
