In this film viewers have almost nobody to care about, and all of the klutzy comedy is given, not to the two heros, but to their gangland pursuers. Danson is a Hollywood hanger-on, a movie extra scraping to make ends meet. Working on location at a racetrack, he overhears the crooks, Mulligan and Margolin, plotting to dope a horse. Danson informs Mandel, a roller-skating carhop, who has put a few bucks away for a rainy day. Danson persuades Mandel to bet it all on the horse, a sure thing. When the crooks' boss, Sorvino, learns that someone else knows of the bet, he sics his hoods of Mandel and Danson just as they are collecting their ten-grand winnings at the track. Mulligan and Margolin are a large part of what little pleasure can be found in this movie. Director Edwards confused humor with speed; so the pace is 150 mph, but there is no time to laugh even if there were any reason to. leave a comment
