An offbeat attempt to document the view of poet Connery, who is frustrated in his attempts to compose a masterpiece. He dislikes women, being considerate only to his second wife, Woodward. Late alimony payments contribute to woes resulting in a nervous breakdown. He tries to get help, but ends up with a lobotomy. Director Kershner demonstrates fine visual talents in his use of New York locations. leave a comment
Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Sean Connery ("The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," "The Rock") is a stubborn, explosive, nonconformist poet who takes on the world at large. This screwball comedy from Emmy-nominated director Irvin Kershner ("The Empire Strikes Back," "Never Say Never Again") reveals a dark side when it shows the ultimate consequences of Connery's behavior. The top-notch all-star cast includes Academy Award, Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Joanne Woodward (TV's "Empire Falls" miniseries, "Sybil"), Golden Globe-nominee Jean Seberg ("Airport," "Breathless") and Emmy-winner Colleen Dewhurst (TV's "Murphy Brown," "Dying Young").
