This violent, ludicrous tale of antiwar sentiments, nuclear disarmament, commando squads, and hostages features Judy Davis as the leader of a militant antinuclear group that resorts to terrorism in its fears that the world will end in a violent unilateral nuclear attack. She and her cohorts storm the US government building in London, take the visiting secretary of state, Richard Widmark, hostage, and demand the destruction of nuclear weapons. Lewis Collins, a captain in the Special Air Services, goes undercover to infiltrate the gang, while Scotland Yard chief Edward Woodward organizes his men. This politically skewed movie portrays the antinuclear movement as a militant, radical organization bent on violence; by the end of the film, however, the SAS, Scotland Yard, and US Air Force combine forces to wipe out this "enemy." leave a comment
