Genevieve Bujold battles what seems like the entire KGB and a woefully weak screenplay in this lackluster thriller. While in Moscow covering Soviet-Canadian disarmament talks, Canadian TV journalist Nicole Thomson (Bujold) happens upon horrible experiments in which steroids are tested on
children. Aided by a Jewish fur merchant who is in the USSR on a buying trip (Burgess Meredith), Nicole attempts to smuggle out both a videotape of the experiments and the daughter of Soviet scientist Valentine Ulanova (Colleen Dewhurst), who is badly in need of brain surgery.
