Loosely based on the famous story by Emile Gaboriau, who popularized the detective story in France, FILE 113 concerns memorable detective Le Coq (Lew Cody), who performs nimbly in solving a bank robbery complicated by a blackmail plot, all in time to keep a date with an actress. The old-fashioned air of the story (published in 1883) still permeates the film. leave a comment
