1948, Movie, NR, 92 mins

It's a tossup as to who played more priests: O'Brien or Barry Fitzgerald. In this one, O'Brien is the priest who oversees a bunch of tough newsboys in St. Louis, some time in the early 1900s. Based on a true story and meant to be an uplifting and spiritual film, it succeeds only in being pedantic. Hickman is good as a young boy who goes for religion just before he is due to be executed for a murder he didn't mean to happen. leave a comment
