This interesting, novel film is based on various legends from the folklore of North and South Carolina. Capers, along with his grandfather, Pyle, is out to challenge the Devil. This frightens their Appalachian neighbors and ends in the strange death of the older man. It's up to Capers to continue their quest, a voyage that takes him to Washington, DC.
