Gabriel Kaplan (TV's "Welcome Back Kotter") plays a New York City delicatessen worker who finagles a job as the head basketball coach of Nevada's Cadwalader College. To ensure his success, he recruits a talented assemblage of Gotham playground players whose scholastic qualifications are highly suspect. One of them (Washington) is actually a woman who goes to great pains to keep her gender a secret, but before long she and another of the players have fallen in love.
