Fanny

This version contains the final story in Pagnol's Marseilles trilogy, following MARIUS and FANNY. In the original French version, the story ends as Marius goes back to sea, leaving Fanny with Panisse, her husband, and the son that Marius fathered, now acknowledged as Panisse's. This remake goes over the same territory earlier indicated, then continues beyond it. Nine years pass, and Marius (Horst Buchholz) is working as a garageman in a nearby town, having given up his passion for the sea and the need to sail to the "isles beneath the wind."
