FAMILY PLOT
starstarstarstar
With its two parallel plots, Alfred Hitchcock's final film is a brilliantly constructed mystery-thriller. In the first, a wealthy old woman (Cathleen Nesbitt) hires a phony psychic (Barbara Harris) and her cabbie boyfriend (Bruce Dern) to locate a long-lost heir. The second storyline involves a far more sinister couple, jeweler Arthur Adamson (William Devane) and his girlfriend (Karen Black), who are engineering a kidnapping scheme in which the ransom is to be paid in valuable diamonds.
