After Ratcliff gets pregnant, mom and dad (Cave and Dean) arrange for an abortion in an attempt to retain control of their daughter's liberated life style. One evening, she returns home too late, and finds herself locked out of the house. She seeks refuge with her boy friend, but, by
now, her parents are completely fed up. She is sent off to a shrink, then to group therapy, and finally shock treatments which reduce her to a psychiatric case-study. Photographed in documentary style and originally made for television, the film was the recipient of a special award at the 1972
Berlin Film Fest. It is saved only by its exceptional performances.
