This early film industry self-examination edges into melodrama of a type archaic even in its time. The plot deals with a failing former film star, Walthall, who has become an alcoholic and, in his career's perigee, is hauled before a magistrate, Breese, on charges of public intoxication.
His son, Janney, makes an impassioned plea on his behalf; Breese is freed, albeit with a stern warning to sin no more. Unable to find employment within an industry whose production schedules he has too often hindered, the aging actor reverts to the sauce. Son Janney, ever empathic, procures for
