Fair Game

1986, Movie, NR, 85 mins

Nice cinematography and slick direction do not an intelligent action film make. FAIR GAME looks nice, and director Andreacchio proves that he can handle suspense and action sequences. Unfortunately, the script by George provides no characterizations whatsoever, so the film basically boils down to a live-action Roadrunner cartoon. Delaney is a pretty young woman who runs a wildlife sanctuary in the South Australian outback. Her troubles start when she runs into three sadistic poachers--Who, Sandford, and Ford--who indulge in a seemingly endless cat-and-mouse game with Delaney. As exploitation films go, FAIR GAME is a competent-enough effort. The action scenes are good, the performances serviceable, and the photography very professional, but the script is a one-note job in which the only thing that develops is the amount of brutality. leave a comment
