1936, Movie, NR, 66 mins

This low-budget programmer casts Collyer and Hughes as a pair of newspaper employees out to solve a mysterious string of murders that is threatening the cast of a play called "Satan's Bride." With the help of dim-witted photographer St. John, Collyer and Hughes begin collecting clues. Also investigating the killings is Gray, a playwright whose interest in mysteries gives him some added insight. After a few more corpses are chalked up to "The Fiend," as the murderous hunchback is called, Hughes discovers that Gray is actually the killer in disguise. Things look dim for Hughes, but just as he is about to be killed, St. John shows up with the police in tow. A captivating picture if you can ignore the meager production values. leave a comment
