At the center of this eerie, poetic horror thriller is famed plastic surgeon Dr. Genessier (Pierre Brasseur), who, obsessed with reconstructing the disfigured face of his daughter Christiane (Edith Scob), sends his loyal female assistant (Alida Valli) to the Sorbonne to lure young women to his laboratory.
